Ron Legget, A first generation Urban Native American grew up in Oakland, California. Ron’s Family is originally from Legget, California. Ron’s father was Pomo/Wailaki. Ron’s relatives were part of the second “Trail of Tears” (The Marches to Round Valley), his relatives were forced from their land by the United States Army, and forced to walk together while tied to soldiered horses. The majority of the people forced to march did not survive, and either died from exhaustion or murdered by the soldiers in route to the Round Valley reservation. Ron’s dad was not an enrolled member of the Round Valley reservation.
Both of Ron’s parents were relocated to Oakland, and were part of the 1956 Indian Relocation Act.
