Our goal is to educate others about the positive effects the legalization of cannabis has had within our community. While we are witnessing so many amazing things trickling into our community, Maine is lacking exposure to these positive impacts because of the very evident 'Reefer Madness' mentality coined in the 60s that is very much still alive today. It is general knowledge that many prominent leaders of our past and present understood the benefits of cannabis and would grow hemp agriculture and use it as medicine while Big Pharmacy and fuel industries remained dedicated toward building stigmas to prevent industry competition. As we overcome these struggles from our past, the medicinal values are just now being rediscovered directly as a result of legalization. This misinformation primarily devastated minorities and has further prohibited women-owned businesses to excel. Now that Maine is a recreational and medical sanctuary of this magical herb, we are breaking these stereotypes that prevent effective care and treatment for so many suffering illnesses like Parkinson's disease, turrets, various cancers & so many others, effecting all families.
Not only do all of these featured women jump to the call of duty when the industry was called to do something about the homelessness crisis, but they were also quick to cooperate to help those without housing this season. Half of the proceeds of this calendar will go to the 24 Hour Homeless Youth Program in Auburn wiht additional transition programs.
As voices of women around the world are being silenced, we are strengthening our own with the support of our community. History shows, where Maine goes, so does the country. Let's work together to end stigmas about cannabis together and support the causes positively impacting our community."
